The best places to go out to eat in London

places to go out to eat

You can find restaurants serving food from all over the world in London, so it will really come down to what kind of food you are looking for. For cheap eats that are considered some of the best in the city, look for dinner at one of many pubs or take-away shops. There are also various ethnic eateries throughout London offering meals starting at about £4 for lunch and around £6-8 for dinner depending on where you go. If you don’t mind spending more than these amounts, there are plenty of upscale restaurants with extensive menus full of gourmet dishes. The price range is huge though, so it will also depend on if you want to go for a quick lunch or sit-down dinner at one of the city’s best restaurants.

You can find pretty much every type of restaurant throughout the capital listed with each one having its own review describing not only if the food is any good but how expensive it is as well. If you are specifically looking for cheap eats considered some of the best in London, here are three places I would recommend:

1) The Crown Tavern

A cake made to look like a train

This pub isn’t located near any tourist attractions so it might be easy to miss while walking around town, but this place has very high reviews on most websites and I can vouch for it personally as well as one of them the best places to go out to eat. They advertise themselves as serving “Gourmet Pub Food” and the truth is that the high quality of this food does match that description. The Crown Tavern has a fairly extensive menu with dishes such as Steak and Kidney Pie, Roast Pork Loin, Bangers & Mash, as well as many other choices. They also have an abundant selection of drinks available including some very nice imported beers along with cocktails and wines. If you do happen to find yourself near Trafalgar Square, Charing Cross Station, or any major tourist attraction in London, make sure to stop by and check out the Crown Tavern (34 Park Street).

2) Edouardo’s

This restaurant is located near the Covent Garden, which means that it can be pretty crowded and sometimes difficult to find a table as it’s one of the best places to go out to eat. However, if you do get in and eat there I promise you won’t be disappointed. The service here is great and their menu consists of various types of food including burgers, pasta, steaks, salads, etc. You really can’t go wrong when choosing something to eat since it’s all excellent quality food (I’ve never had anything bad here). They also serve all kinds of drinks such as wines and cocktails in addition to soft drinks like juices and sodas. Eduardo’s has a nice casual atmosphere so you can just come by for lunch or dinner if you don’t have time to dress up perfectly for a full dinner, but I would still recommend dressing nice so you can feel comfortable eating at a nicer restaurant. If you do choose to just pop in and grab some food, they also have take-out available (8 Russell Street).

3) Thomas Cubitt

This gastropub has very good reviews and even though it is on the more expensive side, the quality of their food is well worth the price. According to their website, “We offer a modern British menu with an emphasis on seasonal dishes sourced from local producers where possible.” They serve lunch from 12:00 pm – 3:30 pm Monday through Saturday as well as all day Sunday brunch from 10:00 is – 3:30 pm. Come by for a quick lunch or for dinner where they are open 6:30 pm – 11:00 pm Monday through Wednesday, 6:30 pm – 12:00 am Thursday through Saturday, and 6:30 pm – 10.45 pm on Sundays. Thomas Cubitt is located at 44 Great Portland Street in Fitzrovia (NW1 W1).

I hope this helps you the next time you’re looking for the best places to go out to eat in London!
