In the 2018 list of the Michelin star chefs in London, there were new entries. Vineet Bhatia, is behind the flagship restaurant in Chelsea called The Vineet Bhatia London, the first Leela Group independent restaurant of the city of Jamavar. Along with Vineet Bhatia, there is also another entry of Veeraswamy which is the oldest Indian restaurant in the city. However, if you thought that Puri or the Helen Mirren of the Hundred-Foot Journey overplays the importance of the Michelin stars, you are very wrong.

The system selects some of the best restaurants each year. This rating system was provided by the French tyre company Michelin. It has been in practice for many years as it immediately raises the rating and importance of a restaurant. However, with time, the Michelin ratings have faced much criticism for having some bias towards French and Japanese foods. Here, we try to name and acknowledge the few Indian chefs accorded Michelin stars.

The Chefs Who Got The Chance To Receive The Award Of The Michelin Star Chefs:

Srijith Gopinathan:

He is perhaps the only Indian chef who has received two Michelin stars. However, his innovative and creative Californian-Indian Cuisine has made him quite famous. Therefore, he has been awarded the most coveted Michelin star six years in a row. He was upgraded from one Michelin star to two Michelin stars in 2016. Gopinathan got his influence through the exotic spices of Southern India. Consequently, He reinvented the version of Californian-Indian cuisine.

Atul Kochhar:

Indian food had not been recognized by Michelin until the year 2001. Atul Kochhar received one when he was the head chef at Tamarind, Mayfair in London. Consequently, he received another Michelin star in 2007. This was for his Benares Restaurant and Bar in Mayfair, which is well-known. Kochhar then opened many other famous restaurants all over the world. These include Ananda and Rang Mahal in Dublin, NRI and LIMA restaurants in Mumbai, and Benares Madrid in the Spanish city.

Moreover, he has cooked at St James Palace for Prince Charles. Atul Kochhar is now 47 years old. He was born in Jamshedpur. In Chennai, he completed his hotel management course. His creative ability to mix the Indian flavors with British food has elevated his fame.
